Terms and Conditions

Who these terms apply to

These terms govern the relationship between Dogpatch Design (operated by Hasan Mahmud and Ashiful Haque) and any client who engages our services. By booking a call, signing a contract, or making a payment you agree to these terms.

1. Our services

Dogpatch Design provides founding designer-led product design, UI/UX design, no-code development (Webflow, Framer, Elementor), motion design, branding, marketing, and content strategy. The specific scope of work for each engagement is agreed between Dogpatch Design and the client before work begins.

2. Engagement structure

Free trial:
Every new engagement begins with a one-week free trial. During this period Dogpatch Design will complete real work at no charge.

Free trial guarantee:
If we are not the right fit you can cancel within the first week. No strings attached. You do not pay anything and you keep any work delivered. We will walk away cleanly with no invoice and no obligation.

Trial month:
If you choose to continue after the free trial the first full month is billed at $1,250.

Monthly retainer:
From the second month onwards the standard retainer is $2,500 per month covering founding designer-led design, dev, motion, no-code, and marketing.

Recommended contract length:
We recommend a minimum engagement of 3 to 6 months. Founding designer-level work compounds over time. The longer we work together the faster we move and the better the output. Short engagements limit what we can achieve for your product.

3. Payment terms

No upfront payment:
We do not require any upfront payment. Your first invoice arrives at the end of your first full month of work.

No upfront payment explained:
We work before you pay. The first week is free. Your first invoice arrives at the end of month one. We believe in earning trust before asking for money.

Payment schedule:
Invoices are sent in the last week of each month. Payment is due upon receipt.

Recommended payment methods:
We recommend setting up your contract and payments through one of the following platforms:

  • Every.io — for US-based clients setting up contractor agreements
  • Deel — for international clients and global contractor management

If you prefer to pay directly you can send payment via ACH transfer to our Wise bank account. Details are provided on your invoice.

Why we recommend Every and Deel:
These platforms make contractor agreements and recurring payments simple and legally compliant. They protect both parties and remove payment friction. We are happy to share our referral links so both parties benefit from any available platform credits.

Late payment:
If payment is not received within 7 days of the invoice date Dogpatch Design reserves the right to pause work until payment is cleared. We will always communicate before pausing.

4. Calls and availability

Scheduled calls:

  • Trial month: Up to 2 scheduled calls per week
  • Monthly retainer: Up to 3 scheduled calls per week

Ad-hoc calls:
We understand startups move fast. Ad-hoc calls are always available outside scheduled slots depending on project requirements and founder need. Just message us directly and we will make it work.

Communication:
Monthly retainer clients may use any communication channel of their choice including Slack, WhatsApp, or email. We are available for real-time updates and discussions throughout the engagement.

5. Cancellation and notice period

Notice period:
A minimum of one calendar month’s written notice is required to cancel a monthly retainer. Notice must be sent to hello@dogpatch.design.

Why one month notice:
The notice period allows us to properly hand over all work, source files, and documentation so your next designer or team member can pick up exactly where we left off. It protects you as much as it protects us.

Trial cancellation:
If you choose to cancel during the free one-week trial there is no notice period required and no payment due. No strings attached.

Not the right fit? Cancel within the first week. You pay nothing, you keep the work, and we walk away. Simple as that.

6. Equity

Dogpatch Design may request a small equity stake as part of an engagement. We want skin in the game – it is how we show up like a founding designer, not a vendor. This is always discussed and agreed on a call before any contract is signed and is never a condition of starting work. Equity terms are documented separately in the engagement agreement.

7. Intellectual property

Work ownership:
Upon receipt of full payment all design work, files, and deliverables produced by Dogpatch Design become your property. Until full payment is received Dogpatch Design retains ownership of all deliverables.

Portfolio rights:
Dogpatch Design reserves the right to display completed work in our portfolio and case studies unless the client requests confidentiality in writing before the engagement begins.

8. Revisions

Revisions are included in every engagement. There are no extra invoices for revision rounds. We iterate until the work is right. If the scope of work changes significantly from what was originally agreed we will discuss adjusted terms before proceeding.

9. Confidentiality

Dogpatch Design treats all client information, product details, and business data as confidential. We do not share client information with third parties except where required to deliver our services. Clients are asked to treat Dogpatch Design’s processes, pricing, and team details as confidential.

10. Acceptance of work

You have 3 business days to review and provide feedback on deliverables. If we do not hear from you within that period the work is considered accepted. Further feedback and revisions can still be accommodated and will not affect the billing cycle.

11. Customer representations

By engaging our services you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, that you will not use our services for any illegal or prohibited purpose, and that you have the right to any materials, content, or brand assets you provide to us.

12. Prohibited activities

Clients may not resell, redistribute, or use deliverables produced by Dogpatch Design for purposes outside the agreed project scope without written permission. Clients may not use our work in any way that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.

13. Limitation of liability

Dogpatch Design will always deliver work to the highest founding designer standard. However we cannot guarantee specific business outcomes such as revenue growth, conversion rate improvements, or fundraising success. Results referenced on our website reflect specific client outcomes and are not guaranteed for every engagement.

Dogpatch Design’s total liability in any dispute shall not exceed the total fees paid by the client in the three months preceding the dispute.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If negotiation fails disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do we will update the date at the top of this page. Clients with active engagements will be notified of any material changes by email.
